OK, so how can I get it to test?
I'm not complaining it doesn't work, I want to help.

Yeah I put brick in quotes because it's not permanent. That's one of the advantages of how CHDK works.

Send nafraf a PM (personal message) with a real email address.  Looks like he has volunteered to do a build and work with you on this.

Yes. I'm working on a3400 101b port, and I have fixed some bugs in 101 that should be tested.

Got it and working on it. First issue is getting it to load. Firmware update isn't showing up. Trying different cards and FAT32 options now.

Is there a ps.fi2 file in the root of your SD card ?  Typically you don't get one with alpha builds and you can't boot with the firmware update method without it.   

Try the "SD Card Lock" booting method.

(btw - firmware update method is card format agnostic - it will work with any format that the camera will accept for normally)

I wanted to ask this for a while now,
why are .fi2 files missing from these early releases? Are "we" lazy to find the required keys, or there's another (legal?) reason behind it?

Both - although finding the keys is not very hard.

Its my understanding that some people have thought that the legality of unwrapping the encryption in the ps.fi2 might be problematic in some countries. I think there are some old posts about that on the forum.  Its given as the reason the keys are not distributed publicly for example.  I'm not a lawyer so I have no opinion on the subject.

hi all, i just bought a canon a3400is.
downloaded firmware 1.00f full from download page but can't load it in camera using the "firmware update method"

after that checked with ACID, found out that my camera firmware is 1.01b

please kindly advise how can i load CHDK?
do i need to download another build (which can't be found in download page)

or should i try with "bootable SD card" method?

You have two only options :
  • wait for somebody to create a port of CHDK for the 1.01b
  • port CHDK to the 1.01b yourself

I sent you the link to CHDK for A3400 101b prealpha version.  Please test it and report.
To load it, you need to use Bootable sd-card method.
