I thought I'd found the problem, sorry about that.

I'll take another look when I can; I will be away for a few days over Christmas so it may not be for while.

On beta 5,   I am unable to activate the DNG output format.  It says: cannot load chdk/badpixel.bin please run chdk/script/test/badpixel.lua.   I am not experienced with the chdk, I just loaded the full binary version.
Is there something I can do or do I just have to wait for next version??  Thanks!

Beta 6 has been uploaded.
Hopefully this will fix the autoboot from partitioned SD cards in firmware 1.00E and 1.00L.

thanks for your new efforts.
i hate to be the bearer of bad news, but - at least for me - beta6 didnt work either (firmware 1.00L).
i tried my own method, the sdminst pdf method and yours. everything happened exactly like before.
with your test method at step 4 the camera waits a few second and switches itself off, with the old partition untouched. with the other methods chdk autoloads but the camera sees the first small partition.

ps: im not sure that it matters but when trying your guide i used the full beta6 package in step 2. with beta5 a few days ago i used binary only as instructed - same results.

ps2: it ocurred to me what if the problem is in some obscure way with my card (brand new kingston 16gb class10 microsd with factory adapter). ill try and borrow an another 4gb+ card and try that one if i can. ill report my findings.

Darn, I thought I had it this time. I sent you a personal message with my email address, if you can help me test this send me an email and I'll send you a test version.

One thing to check, when you start in play mode does the CHDK splash screen display quickly after the Canon startup image goes away, or does it take a few seconds before the CHDK splash screen shows?

Can you tell me how long after the Canon startup image goes away is it before the CHDK splash screen shows (when starting in play/review mode)?

I had problems getting the file system startup code to work properly and it may be that it is still misbehaving on 1.00E and 1.00L. One of the symptoms of this is that the CHDK splash screen takes a few seconds to display when starting in play mode and shows very quickly in record mode. If this code doesn't run then it would explain why the partitioning stuff is failing and crashing the camera.

Since my card isn't bootable, I can't start CHDK in record mode. 

Or I don't know how.
