Awesome Dataghost ... could you help the 450D users with the hack also please ???

The video is kinda jittery, is that due to motion or compression ???

I am so excited ... you are a legend Dataghost ... :d yoohoo

Here's a feature request.  If possible, give the 'useless' Direct Print button dual functionality like the 50D so that it also enables / disables Live View.  Then allow the Set button (within the Quick Command Dial) to start and stop video capture  8)

Keep up the GREAT work  :)

Maybe it's necessary some editing before going to Sundance film festival....
 ;)
Well done DataGhost!
Many 40D users appreciate your work and they are looking forward for an upgrade chance, with few new functions, including video. A concrete and usable upgrade, well tested and not a neverending wishlist for a never outgoing firmware.
Go ahead and thanks! What about state of the art?

Anyway, some of the things on my to-do-someday list:
  • Movie mode

- AF. Only option is to lower the mirror again and focus. ...

DataGhost,

Just a thought : If you set the autofocus mode to "AI Focus AF" or "AI Servo AF" , does that solve the AF  in the movie mode?  :)

Keep up the good work!  :)

No, the AF sensor is only lit when the mirror is in place (not lifted), hence the need to lower it in live view to get a focus. The only way, as far as I can tell, would be to try to implement contrast detect AF, which we have seen is currently very slow.

maybe I could help your work a little bit... I'm very keen about some part of the project (vid + contrast AF)

I have 3 years experience in programming embedded systems (but mainly in own OS or winCE)...

Please contact me about the details at nemtom@sch.bme.hu , if it's ok for you! :)
