You aren't editing it, but facebook is modifying it when you upload. The image you posted is 2MP, and has no exif info. That means it has been re-sized and re-compressed.

I'm not complaining about this to make your life difficult. I'm telling you how to give us the data that will give us the best chance of understanding the problem.

I signed up for a shutterly account so I could download, but that still gives me a resized image without exif.

Pleads use a *file hosting* site. Some examples:

no problem i will just keep the isue ...
some other people that this might bother can spend all week on the pc uploading to 30 thousand places ...

but good work on chdk sofar ...
 i just dont have the bandwidth and or time to do this ...

@radioman193 : Assuming this will affect other people,  it would be nice if you could "pay forward" some of the effort that has gone into CHDK so far by posting a couple of images on a hosting site as reyalp requested.

I understand this frustrating.

We would like to help. The images you've posted so far a suggestive, but assuming this is real it's quite a puzzle and we will need good data to have any chance of resolving it.

You don't need to upload to a bunch of different places, you just need to upload to *one* place that doesn't modify the files. I realize it isn't obvious that photo sharing sites modify images, but that's how it is.

If you change your mind, just let us know. There's no hurry.

If you don't have a use for chdk features, then of course using the camera stock is a good option.

i can "pay forward" i will keep up with it on the powershot 300hs.

Just did a format of the card for the sx40hs thats all.

If you were using the CHDK 'Subject distance override' option in the 'Extra operations' menu to set infinity (Inf. value) then there was a problem found last week by funnel that may have affected the sx40. In this case the latest version should fix it.

AFAIK the bug should not have caused any problems if you were letting the camera focus or using the camera's bulit in manual  focus.

Thanks for the info so far - I'll do some testing when I can and post the results here.

Turning off the SD card lock effectively removes CHDK from you camera too without a reformat.
