well, i understand you well :) i assume, that pieces of "code to just run CHDK" and code to get raw - is well-known and, (i assume) are more or less equal to all digic 4 cameras - so probablity of risk is going to zero.

Your assumption is wrong. Most of the camera specific code is "code to just run CHDK", booting, hooking tasks, and the addresses for all the functions and variables needed to "just run CHDK". Digic 4 is irrelevant, every camera is different. Even different firmware versions of the same camera are different.

But again what do I know.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Buried in the postings on this forum is the basis for a Master's or PhD thesis in Sociology.  It would be a fascinating study in cooperation of a self-appointed ad-hoc team of passionate volunteers who have never met face-to-face and don't even share a common language.  Just negotiating the language barriers is amazing - my hat is off to all of you.

It was stormy here tonight and even though I missed most of it, I had a chance to set up my camera in the last few minutes.  The camera (not me) took several fairly nice lightning shots (it took 20 pics, at least 9 had lightning in them).  This was my first attempt at lightning pics, and I was using the Fast Motion Detection script.  It's not an award winning picture, but it wouldn't have been possible without CHDK!

This year I am looking forward to storm season.  We get some pretty amazing shows when the thunder clouds roll in.

Here too!  I need to go into the city (Chicago) next time.  Lots of things to attract lightning there!

@Achilles
Instead of motion detection you could use a long time exposure (for example 10-15 sec) (probably with high aperture if the night is not very dark). Then you can have more lightins on one photo as well as you would never lost the begin of the lighting (which is the most beautifull:D).

This is a method my grandfather taught me, he was doing this a years ago, when nobody thought about microprocesors:D

Then we can say that the porting CHDK to SX130IS came here? or would stay pending the issue of the lens? Because I want to buy another SX130 for my brother and I have doubts.

I've been using the last working version for two weeks and i haven't had any problem at the moment :)

I'm using removing bad pixels, zebra, battery indicator, free memory indicator and histogram.
